How to use Alben for rabbits - methods and dosages

Alben is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic intended for the treatment and prevention of helminthic infestations in rabbits and other domestic animals. The pharmacological drug is widely used in classical veterinary medicine, as it has a number of advantages over similar anthelmintics. Alben for rabbits has a fast action, helps to effectively get rid of dangerous parasites at any stage of their development and prevents re-infection of the animal.

Composition of Albena and release form

Alben is a pharmacological anthelmintic drug from the group of benzimidazoles, produced in the form of granules or tablets. The composition of the medicine includes:

  • albendazole;
  • calcium stearate;
  • polyvinylpyrrolidone;
  • lactose;
  • potato starch.

The main active component of the drug is albendazole - it is this substance that ensures the destruction of parasites in all phases of their life, from eggs to adults.

The tablets are packaged in foil blisters of 25 pieces, as well as cardboard packages or polymer jars with airtight lids. The granules are packaged in plastic bottles. The tablets contain 360 mg of active albendazole; the granules contain a lower concentration, 200 mg.

Operating principle of Albena

After taking Alben granules or tablets, the active substance is quickly absorbed into the walls of the digestive system and spreads through the bloodstream to all cells and tissues of the animal’s internal organs.

The pharmacological effect of albendazole is the rapid inhibition of motor functions and carbohydrate metabolism, including glucose. Severe pathologies of metabolic processes lead to paralysis of the helminth and its rapid death.

In veterinary medicine, Alben is allowed to be given not only to rabbits, but also to other farm animals and birds - pigs, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats.

The drug is well tolerated by animals of any age. Alben does not cause teratogenic or hepatogenic effects, even long-term use does not lead to addiction in the body.

The advantage of the drug Alben is its ovicidal effect. This means that its active components affect not only adult animals, but also helminth eggs, preventing the spread of helminthiasis among the entire rabbit population.
